Panorama Launches Elderly Pickup Program for Vaccination

Panorama Launches Elderly Pickup Program for Vaccination

The Indonesian government is accelerating the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination program across many cities. Since its launch in January 2021, the program has entered its second phase, targeting public service workers and sectors directly interacting with the public—such as educators, hospitality and tourism staff, transportation workers, and most importantly, the elderly.

Elderly citizens are a priority due to their higher risk of Covid-19 complications. Indonesia's elderly population stands at around 26.8 million (approximately 10% of the total population), with 53% living in urban areas. In Jakarta alone, there are about 1 million elderly citizens, but only 52% have received the vaccine, according to the Jakarta Health Department.

To support the acceleration of elderly vaccinations, Panorama initiated the “Elderly Pickup for Vaccination” program, managed through Panorama Ministry and the Panorama Anugerah Foundation, in collaboration with the Jakarta Health Training Center (BBPK) as the vaccine provider. The program targets 500 elderly participants across the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek), offering round-trip transportation and personal assistance provided by Panorama.

In its first phase, the pickup service covered areas such as Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang, Depok, Tomang, Cinere, and Cibubur.

“We want to ensure the public stays healthy and activities can resume safely. That’s why Panorama supports the vaccination program and contributes through initiatives like this. We also encourage the government to prioritize tourism workers so that the industry can recover quickly across more regions in Indonesia,” said Budi Tirtawisata, President Director of PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk.

Vaccination is viewed as a game changer for the tourism industry, providing safety and peace of mind for travelers. Some countries and airlines have even introduced rules requiring proof of vaccination for entry or travel. This requirement is expected to increase public motivation to get vaccinated, helping restore mobility and business activities.

Panorama predicts that the tourism industry will begin recovering in Q3 2021, with normalization expected in the second half of 2022—assuming the vaccination program runs smoothly.
