There is something different about the 2019 Eid al-Fitr homecoming (mudik) season. The opening of new toll road segments has increased public interest in using land transportation for mudik, making it more popular compared to previous years. This increase is also driven by the rising cost of airline tickets. According to the Transportation Research and Development Agency, the number of people expected to travel for Eid mudik this year will reach 32 million. Meanwhile, the number of mudik travelers using public transportation in 2019 is projected to reach 22.83 million, an increase of 4.14% from the previous year.

Darmaningtyas, Director of the Institute for Transportation Studies (Instran), stated that the presence of the Trans-Java toll road will help smooth traffic flows from the Jabodetabek area (Greater Jakarta) to Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java during the 2019 Eid mudik. To meet the growing demand for land transportation to return to their hometowns during this year's Eid, Day Trans will support the need by providing special mudik packages.

"The mudik packages we offer are very affordable, priced around 300-400 thousand IDR for routes from Jakarta to Yogyakarta/Semarang, departing between May 29 – June 15, 2019," said Yosepha, General Manager of Day Trans.
