Jakarta, May 13, 2026 – As a tangible manifestation of its corporate social responsibility and the implementation of its Panorama Green Initiatives commitment, Panorama, through its Travel & Leisure business pillar, Panorama JTB Tours, successfully organized an environmental conservation activity titled “A Million Trees, A Million Smiles.” This green initiative focused on mangrove tree planting at Ketapang Urban Aquaculture, Mauk, Tangerang Regency.
The activity is part of the JTB Brighter Earth Project, a global initiative led by JTB Corp, the strategic partner of Panorama JTB Tours. The event was also utilized by Panorama JTB Tours to conduct a Scope 3 carbon emission calculation exercise within the Corporate Travel segment, as part of the company’s effort to better understand the environmental impact of corporate business travel activities. The findings are expected to become the foundation for developing more environmentally friendly and transparent travel service portfolios in the future.
This year, Panorama JTB Tours planted a total of 166 mangrove trees. The number carries a symbolic meaning, representing the long journey and achievements of both companies. It reflects the combined milestones of JTB Corp’s 113 years of global presence and Panorama’s 53 years of contribution to Indonesia’s tourism industry.
Mangroves were specifically chosen due to their crucial role in maintaining coastal ecosystem balance. Mangroves are highly effective in preventing coastal abrasion, absorbing carbon emissions at a high capacity, and serving as an important habitat for marine biodiversity.
A total of 55 invited guests, consisting of corporate clients and airline partners, actively participated in the mangrove planting activity. Their involvement reflects a shared commitment to building a more responsible and environmentally conscious tourism industry.
Hellen, Director of Travel & Leisure of the Company and CEO of Panorama JTB Tours, expressed her appreciation for the successful implementation of the program:
“The ‘A Million Trees, A Million Smiles’ initiative is a tangible manifestation of our core values in promoting environmental sustainability through Panorama Green Initiatives. By planting 166 mangrove trees, we celebrate the long-standing journey of Panorama and JTB Corp while making a positive contribution to nature. We believe this green initiative will bring smiles to the future of our planet.”
Panorama Green Initiatives is a sustainability commitment initiated by Panorama to support decarbonization efforts within the tourism sector. The program aims to promote responsible tourism through the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Through this initiative, Panorama hopes to inspire more stakeholders within the travel industry to continuously prioritize sustainability principles in every aspect of their operations.
